A Bloody Monsoon Massacre!

Rajesh's Family was having something special for that rainy Sunday noon! Under the ambiance of the freezing monsoon heart, the hot chilly smell of frying catfish melted the water out of every family member's mouth! Apart from the meat, what they usually used to eat on Sundays, it was the Catfish which was the prey hunted down on the previous night's first monsoon rain and there was some special thrill to grill it!

The hunt was planned yesterday by me, Rajesh and my other friend who lives near to the pond and paddy fields. On that rainy evening, after having few drinks, the nostalgic ambiance of the monsoon and the adrenalin rush made us think of a trip between the bloody mud and rain.

On the arrival of every monsoon the guys and few old time junkies make a battlefield out of the paddy fields! As the rain play consistently though the paddy fields, the rising water makes the fishes to plan for a foreign tour or a jail break out of the ponds and water streams! The guys come at night with a torch and a sword to get the thrill of the kill and the taste of the victims! It is traditional festival like feeling, where we can see scenes of violent riot situation ie, guys with swords, but riot only against the fish and frog and to harvest the feeling of the traditional practices!

It was the first time we were hunting down the shitty muds of the bloody paddy fields. Rajesh had informed his family members that he's going for fish hunting and will be back home by tomorrow morning with some fresh Catfishes, so that he can avoid entering the home at night as a drunken monkey! But the fate for us were to roam in the windy rains and to dig our legs in mud, with not even a glance of a catfish! As it was late and the rain has over flooded the fields, there was no chance of spotting a fish. We roamed around like dogs and the only thing we got was a love for the nostalgic rain and the Dolby digital surround sound of the frogs, crickets and insects! The heavy rain washed away the adrenaline rush of of the booze to give way to a more natural trip! After burning down the last cigarette we thought of packing up! As I ride my way home Rajesh stayed at the other friends house!

On the Sunday morning Rajesh was heading straight to Kaloor Market maybe as per his idea which could have come before sleeping. He brought 2kg catfish and made some wound on it as if it were hunted down last night!

The fire Catfish was served and all the family members were proud of having "hunted" Catfish, except Rajesh, who was in little jeopardy!

Last day I watched the monsoon which came late! I was not surprised to see the late coming of the monsoon and the loss of the consistent balance of the Mother Nature! I just went down to see the paddy fields in the first consistent rain through the night and can find only two or three neighboring guys hanging around for the fish hunt and also there were no fields left for them to get a big catch as the old days! but they managed to get a reasonable hunt. Almost all the paddy fields are being fucked up by the real estate mafia. The water steams where we used to play with water and mud has become the channel of shit and garbages!

The Nature is now fucked up like our minds! Every Mother Fucker hate to hear the word Mother Fucker and everyone are really fucking their mother, ie Mother Nature!
